Kids Backpack

Young children are basically easy to shop for, thus they may already know what “character” they want their backpack to portray, such as “Sponge Bob Square Pants,” or other cartoon characters such as “Scoobie Doo”. Some children want camouflage backpacks, others are desirous of one color or another. Many little girls are very taken with ballet shoes or barbie on their backpacks.

If your child has to catch the school bus when it’s still dark outside, you as the parent may wish to purchase a backpack that has reflectors sewn directly onto it. The choices are myriad of those made expressly for safety!

On the other hand, should your child be carrying a lot in the backpack but is forever losing their raincoat or sweater, making you have to purchase a new one each time, you may also appreciate kids backpack that have crisscrossed bungee cords located on the back, making it very easy for the child to attach the sweater or raincoat. This turns out to have been the biggest problem solver for lost clothing problems in many households.

Always remember that kids love pockets in their backpack, the more the merrier. Unlike us when we were kids, they now carry cell phones for safety’s sake. Many of them also love to carry around their portable mp3 players. It’s always a good idea to have those with earphones, but only one earpiece, so that the child can hear oncoming traffic for example. The backpack chosen should have a place for the mp3 player, as well as the ear bud.

You may also find that kids commonly have backpacks that have their names on them, usually stitched in, so that it’s highly personalized. This helps in locating their backpack and not taking another child’s in error. There is a negative side though to having the child’s name imprinted on the outside of the backpack, and that is in case the child encounters someone looking to harm them, they will know their name, thus this is a decision that should be made carefully.

You will find that that there are even toddler backpacks available now. At first the idea seems ludicrous, but when you think how your children and grandchildren love to pack their “stuff” in to suitcases and the like, you’ll find that the children actually will delight with a backpack of their own, as long as they are walking, which is why they are called toddler backpack.
